The club skipper will be joined on the sidelines by the suspended Ruby Mace and Inma Gabarro, who recently underwent successful surgery on her ACL, but will not feature again this season.

Manager Scott Phelan has also confirmed that there are a few ’bumps and bruises’ in the squad that will need assessing after the international break, but Finnigan will be urging whoever starts to give their all to honour their new home that has, so far, not been the happiest of hunting grounds for the Toffees. “”I can’t wait to get back on the Goodison Park pitch, but will be cheering on the girls as usual this afternoon, “We know the importance of a strong conclusion to the season and we are inspired to finish on a positive note our first season at Goodison Park. “We need to give our all to cement our place in the top half of the table and honour this iconic venue.

” The Opposition Sonia Bompastor has full belief her team will secure a Champions League spot but will be well aware of both Manchester United and Arsenal being two points behind them, with the latter having two games games on Chelsea, who could mathematically still win the league but would need to overhaul a huge goal difference and have every result go their way. A season that has been below their usual standards, with Chelsea securing the last five WSL crowns on the spin, although the West London outfit have won the League Cup for the fourth time in their history and still have the FA Cup in their sights. The Champions League did evade them again this season however, and the exit to Arsenal will have hurt that little bit more in a campaign that may see some changes for the side so used to dominating the domestic front.

Previous Meetings A one-sided rivalry was turned on its head this season when a Honoka Hayashi goal secured an unlikely win at Kingsmeadow, also ending Chelsea’s 18-month unbeaten record in the WSL in the process. Out for revenge, Bompastor will be hoping Chelsea can play like they did last season on Merseyside, when the visitors ran out 5-0 winners at Goodison in November, while also putting the Toffees out of the FA Cup three months later. The two sides would again meet at Kingsmeadow a week later in a controversial clash, which saw Kelly Gago’s opener cancelled out by Mayra Ramirez eleven minutes later.
