Match Report: Toothless Chelsea beaten 1-0 at home by Man U as spiral continues Chelsea were beaten by Man U in a game the Blues desperately needed to win. Their Champions League chase is now over – if it wasn’t already. This game didn’t have the defensive collapses we’ve seen often recently, but instead saw the Blues conceded and be totally unable to create any threat in attack, despite dominating the ball.

Things got significantly worse after just 15 minutes, when Estevao, our only threatening attacker in the squad on current form, was taken off injured. His replacement, Alejandro Garnacho, had one of the worst games we’ve seen a Chelsea attacker have in years, failing to threaten time and time again against his old team. Despite facing a makeshift back line featuring Ayden Heaven and Nouazir Mazraoui at centre back, the Blues (and Liam Delap leading the line in particular) were embarrassingly unable to create significant chances.

MOTM – Enzo Fernandez Analysis Liam Rosenior is looking totally lost, and this game only enhanced that feeling. The terrible construction of this squad has left him with with very little to work with, but even then we see far lesser sides create more danger than this on a regular basis in this league. The players have totally given up on him, as you can see both from his futile attempts to pass instructions to the pitch, and from the open acts of dissent from the likes of Wesley Fofana, who shrugged off his coaches when he was subbed off towards the end.

Teams Chelsea : Sanchez; Gusto (Acheampong 81), Fofana (Chalobah 81), Hato, Cucurella; Caicedo (c), Fernandez (Lavia 88); Estevao (Garnacho 16), Palmer, Neto; Delap Chelsea substitutes : Sharman-Lowe, Tosin, Andrey Santos, Essugo, Guiu Stats Summary : Team A dominated the match with much higher possession, expected goals, and total shots, while Team B struggled offensively. Quote of the game “They’ve had one shot on our goal when we’re down to ten men because of an injury and they score. We have wave after wave of attack, put crosses in the box, and have moments that we don’t take advantage – we’ve hit the woodwork several times.

” – Liam Rosenior tries to spin positive about another pathetic showing.
