They swept the Kansas City Royals and Boston Red Sox back-to-back before picking up another series win on the road with a game to go. The Yankees' offense has been a major reason behind this winning streak. That was true on Saturday as well.
Yankees ace Ryan Weathers gave up an RBI single to Isaac Paredes in the bottom of the first inning. The Yankees tied the game in the third with the help of Trent Grisham's solo home run, his fourth long ball this season. Their lead extended to 2-1 when Jose Caballero pulled Mike Burrows for his third home run of the season.
Astros' Carlos Correa tied the scores with a solo shot off Weathers in the sixth. Yankees reliever Fernando Cruz put a stop to the Astros' offense by striking out Yainer Diaz, stranding runners at first and second and saving Weathers from earning some runs to his name. In the top of the seventh, Austin Wells hit the go-ahead home run against Astros reliever Kai-Wei Teng.
