The wideout marks the first Terp to sign as an undrafted free-agent in 2026.

With four former Terp wideouts declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft, wide receiver Octavian Smith Jr. was the first to sign a professional contract, agreeing to terms with the Baltimore Ravens Saturday night. After a season lining up with dual-threat Malik Washington, Smith will get the chance to catch passes from one of the game’s most talented running quarterbacks in Lamar Jackson.

The Burtonsville, Maryland native is coming off his best collegiate season, reeling in a career-high 43 receptions for 529 yards, starting in all but one contest in 2025. After spending his four collegiate seasons in College Park and attending nearby Paint Branch High School, Smith will attempt to continue his football career in an area he is all too familiar with. But after the Ravens experienced a disappointing 8-9 season and missed the postseason, their signing of Smith serves as a measure to improve its struggling receiving core.

Baltimore finished fifth to last in the NFL with just 3,278 total receiving yards in 2025. Coming off 4-8 senior season at Maryland, Smith will look to help the Ravens improve as they enter a new chapter under new head coach Jesse Minter.
