Red Sox Rival Evaluator Has Head-Turning Comment About Alex Cora Firing originally appeared on NESN . Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here . The Boston Red Sox moved on from Alex Cora on Saturday, and the move has shocked plenty around baseball.

Cora was a World Series-winning manager, but a 10-17 start to the season was too much for the Red Sox to stick with him. Despite a 17-1 win on Saturday, Cora's time as manager is over. He is regarded as one of the better managers in the game, and one rival evaluator doesn't quite understand the move.

“How does it make it better to fire one of the best managers in the game? ” a rival evaluator told ESPN's Buster Olney . Cora was 620-541 in his time as the Red Sox manager.

He has proven to be an exceptional manager, but after the Red Sox's aggressive offseason, the results needed to be better. The sentiment seems to be that Cora will have no trouble finding a new job. Managers like him do not grow on trees, but it looks like Craig Breslow and company were ready for a change in Boston.

The Red Sox had won the division just once under Cora. Obviously, the team expects more. Cora was just as frustrated with the slow start as any fan.
