Report: Panthers to sign dual-threat QB as undrafted free agent
The Panthers are reportedly signing undrafted QB and 2025 ACC Offensive Player of the Year Haynes King.
During his pre-draft press conference on Saturday, Carolina Panthers president of football operations and general manager Dan Morgan told reporters that the team was likely to add a quarterback following the selection process. Well, he wasn't lying. According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the Panthers are set to sign Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King.
King, who reportedly visited with the Panthers leading up to the 2026 NFL Draft, will receive $250,000 guaranteed from the deal. The Longview, Texas native spent his first three collegiate campaigns at Texas A&M University. He appeared in 10 games for the Aggiesโamassing 1,579 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions between 2020 and 2022.
King then played three seasons for the Yellow Jackets (2023 to 2025), totaling 7,907 yards and 55 touchdowns through the air while running for 2,277 yards and 36 scores. He was named the 2025 ACC Player of the Year and the ACC Offensive Player of the Year after passing for 2,951 yards and scoring an ACC-leading 15 rushing touchdowns.
