West is the third defensive linemen selected by the Lions this draft, joining second-round pick Derrick Moore and sixth-round pick Skyler Gill-Howard. He played mostly on the edge at Tennessee, working in a rotational role for the Volunteers.
He played four years with Tennessee, but none were more productive than his 2025 season. In 12 games, two starts, he produced 23 tackles, 7. 5 tackles or loss, four sacks, and a forced fumble.
At 6-foot-2, 283 pounds and a massive 80 1/4-inch wingspan, itโs a bit hard to project where West will land on the defensive line in Detroit. He will likely see some interior snaps, but could get some rotational work on the edge. Of course, heโs going to have to battle his way onto the 53-man roster with the new infusion of talent at the position.
