2026 NFL Draft: Commanders select Tennessee EDGE Joshua Josephs

The Washington Commanders selected edge rusher Joshua Joesphs out of Tennessee with the 147th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

With the 147th pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Washington Commanders selected edge rusher Joshua Josephs out of Tennessee. General manager Adam Peters had limited draft capital to work with in 2026 because of the trades he's made over the last two years. But the Commanders have managed to draft relatively well despite that.

They landed Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles at No. 7, and grabbed wide receiver Antonio Williams out of Clemson in round three. But with only one edge rusher under contract beyond 2026, Josephs brings depth and upside.

Josephs will join the likes of Javon Kinlaw, Tim Settle, Jer'Zhan Newton, Daron Payne and Odafe Oweh as part of the Commanders' defensive front. In his four years at Tennessee, he recorded 22 tackles for a loss, 9. 5 sacks, nine passes defensed, and six forced fumbles.

At 6'3 and 242 pounds, he needs to add some bulk, but he's a massive presence on the field. If defensive coordinator Daronte Jones can develop Joseph's technique and play recognition, he could be a late-round draft pick who becomes a starter faster than anticipated. The Commanders have three picks remaining in the draft.
