The name of midfielder emerged as a prominent one in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the last 24 hours. This came after word was forthcoming that the former Arsenal man had, almost out of the blue, completely lost his place in the plans of manager Arbeloa.
Ceballos was not even afforded a place on the bench for Real Madrid’s clash with Real Betis on Friday, with some outlets having gone as far as to suggest that he is unlikely to be called up for matchday duties again this season. On the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw for his side in Seville, the subject of Ceballos’ situation was therefore inevitably put to Álvaro Arbeloa.
