Oklahoma Sooners OL drafted by Houston Texans

Yahoo Sports

Former OU OL chosen by Houston Texans in 2026 NFL Draft.

The second former Oklahoma Sooners player is off the board in the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After the Kansas City Chiefs selected defensive lineman R Mason Thomas in the second round (40th overall) on Friday, OU didn't have to wait long on Saturday for the next player to hear his name called. The Houston Texans drafted offensive lineman Febechi Nwaiwu in the fourth round of the NFL draft, taking him 106th overall .

Nwaiwu spent two seasons in Norman, becoming a fixture on the offensive line. He primarily started at right guard in 2024 and 2025, but he also flashed the ability to play center, making the final two starts of his college career at that position. Nwaiwu spent the first three years of his collegiate career at North Texas, before becoming OU's best and most consistent offensive lineman in the program's first two years in the SEC.

He'll be bringing his experience and leadership to the Texans, who were looking for help on the o-line in this year's draft. Nwaiwu played in the East-West Shrine Bowl earlier this year, which raised his draft stock, and led to him being the second former Sooner to be selected.
