The Kentucky Wildcats are in the heart of the offseason as they look to fill out their roster. Now, as they wait for the 5-in-5 ruling and some potential commitments from several transfer targets, Mark Pope is starting to turn his attention to filling out his final assistant coach opening. Needless to say, he is going for about as big of a fish as anyone could begin to hope for.

According to a report by Jack Pilgrim of KSR on Thursday, Pope has offered the job to retired NBA star Jamal Crawford. That would be a home-run hire for a number of reasons. Crawford, who currently coaches at Rainer Beach High School in Seattle, could potentially help open up a much better chance of landing No.

1 overall recruit, Tyran Stokes. Outside of that, though, landing Crawford would bring back the ‘cool’ factor the Cats are currently missing and help Mark Pope in recruiting other big-name high school recruits and transfer portal prospects. Let’s hope it leads to Kentucky landing the former NBA superstar.
