Player development is the key storyline of the Boston Celtics season
The Boston Celtics have defied expectations this season, in large part due to their player development system
When Brad Stevens made the decision to begin retooling the Boston Celtics roster, we weren't sure what the future held. The Celtics were a second luxury tax apron team and were heading into a season where they would be without Jayson Tatum for the majority of the campaign. Ultimately, Stevens added Josh Minott, Hugo Gonzalez, Luka Garza and Anfernee Simons during the summer.
While both Minott and Simons are no longer on the roster, it's fair to say that all of the Celtics summer additions left their mark. In fact, so did Boston's developmental talent such as Ron Harper Jr. , Jordan Walsh and Baylor Scheierman.
Now, with the regular season in the rearview, it's clear that Boston's player development has become the primary talking point of the season. Joe Mazzulla and his coaching staff have found ways to get the best out of every player on the Celtics roster. Scheierman has become a key member of the rotation.
Neemias Queta is a starting-level big man in the NBA. And Ron Harper Jr. proved he deserved a spot on the main roster.
