Moorehouse and Clancy miss out on medals after defeats

Irish boxers Daina Moorehouse and Dean Clancy have both missed out on medals at the World Boxing Cup in Brazil after going down to defeats at the quarter-final stage. Moorehouse lost her last-eight contest to Alua Balkibekova of Kazakhstan on a unanimous decision in Foz Do Iguaca. All five judges scored the 51kg fight 30-27 to the 2025 world champion.

Sligo boxer Clancy went down on a split decision to Brazil's Yuri Falcao in the last eight of the 65kg division. Two judges awarded the bout in Clancy's favour, but three awarded the fight to his opponent.
