Watch the Detroit Lions' phone call right before drafting Blake Miller

•Yahoo Sports

The Detroit Lions shared a video of GM Brad Holmes, coach Dan Campbell and owner Sheila Hamp calling Blake Miller right before drafting him.

Blake Miller knew he was going to be a member of the Detroit Lions before most of the NFL world knew – which is how the NFL draft usually works, to be fair. The Lions shared a video on their social media pages of general manger Brad Holmes, coach Dan Campbell and owner Sheila Hamp speaking on the phone with Miller moments before he officially became Detroit's first-round pick on Thursday, April 23. Holmes opened the phone call with typical pleasantries before asking him an important question: "Are you ready to be a Lion?

" Based on the room's response, we assume Miller said yes. Check out the video below. FOLLOW ALONG FOR DAY 2: Detroit Lions 2026 NFL Draft live updates, rumors, tracker You ready to be a Lion?

Hamp then congratulated Miller as the rest of the room celebrated the pick. Miller was a four-year starter at Clemson and is expected to slot in at right tackle for the Lions, who had a need for a starting tackle after the exit of longtime veteran Taylor Decker. Campbell told Miller he expected him "to come in and compete," presumably for a starting role on the team.
