The Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays exchanged pitchers in a trade on Friday. According to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal , the Mariners sent right-handed reliever Casey Legumina to the Rays for minor league pitcher Ty Cummings. Tampa has a full 40-man roster and will have to make a move to add Legumina to the roster.

Cummings, 24, began the year at Double-A Montgomery and allowed just one earned run and one hit (solo home run) in 5. 1 innings. He struck out six.

The Campbell University draft pick was a seventh-round selection of the Mariners in 2023. The Mariners designated Legumina for assignment last week. He made 48 appearances with the AL Central club in 2025 and allowed 31 earned runs in 49.
