There might be more wheeling and dealing until we see a 49ers draft selection in 2026

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan talks to the media during the NFL League Meetings on March 30, 2026, at Arizona Biltmore Resort in Phoenix. | Rob Schumacher/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Fans may have to wait a bit longer in the second round to see a San Francisco 49ers selection in the 2026 NFL Draft. Per Jordan Schultz, the 49ers are considered “very open” to moving back and acquiring more picks from 33.

This is in line with 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan’s comments on Monday night following the conclusion of the draft’s first round. “The guys we would have had to take at 30 are still there,” Shanahan said, elabor ating on going back from 27 to 30 and now 33. Sounds like there are multiple players the 49ers are targeting, and they won’t get all of them at 33.

They have no problem moving back a few more times in order to snag one of them. Who is it? Guess we’ll have to see.

The 49ers started the draft with pick 27. They finished not making a selection in the third round and are scheduled to start Day 2 at 33. In the same interview, Shanahan said they had players targeted at that selection (27), however they were not keen on moving up due to only having six picks in this draft.
