Ravens sent a clear message about offensive identity with 14th pick
Baltimore’s investment up front, Vega Ioane, reflects a commitment to maximizing the Ravens' backfield stars.
The Baltimore Ravens didn't need to say it outright. Their first-round pick said it for them. By selecting Olaivavega Ioane 14th overall , they made it clear what kind of offense they want to be.
This is a team committed to physicality, control, and dominance at the line of scrimmage. General manager Eric DeCosta reinforced that idea when discussing the selection during a post-Round 1 press conference. Baltimore's goal is clear.
Build a strong, imposing unit capable of taking over games, particularly in critical moments. "We want to be a strong imposing team, and we probably haven't invested as many resources in the offensive line, recently... So, I think this guy just really checked off every single box for us as a player: mentality, personality, ability, skill level, athletic ability, physicality, all those different things at a very high level.
We love when we can get the best player at his position in the draft, which we've done a lot and kind of take pride in that. So, we think he's a great fit for us and certainly going to help the players around him on the offensive line. " That philosophy also extends to the players behind the line.
