Called up earlier in the day from Triple-A Worcester, Tolle was sensational in his season debut. The 23-year-old lefty, who pitched a little last year, dominated the Yankees over six innings of one-run ball at Fenway Park, racking up 11 strikeouts while allowing just three hits and a walk. He also threw 63 of his 93 pitches for strikes, going toe-to-toe with Cam Schlittler.

Unfortunately for the Boston Red Sox , it wasn't enough. Their slumbering offense continued to sputter, managing only two runs on four hits. Meanwhile, the bullpen immediately surrendered the Red Sox's 2-1 lead after Tolle left.
