Grading the Buccaneers First Round Pick of Rueben Bain Jr
What grade should be given?
PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA - APRIL 23: Rueben Bain Jr. (R) of Miami poses with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell (L) after being selected fifteenth overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during Round One of the 2026 NFL Draft at Acrisure Stadium on April 23, 2026 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They selected EDGE rusher Rueben Bain Jr from Miami, and this pick does a few things. First, it gives them a player with a high ceiling, but it also gives them with a high ceiling at a position of need. Bain Jr joins a pass rush room in much need of a spark, and the Bucs are hoping he provides just that.
Bain Jr had 9. 5 sacks in his final season at Miami and was someone teams consistently game planned to stop each week. He also won the Tedd Hendricks award in 2025, which is given to the top defensive end in college football each season.
At 6โ3โ, 275 pounds, Bain brings great size to the Bucs pass rush room and he is a stout run defender but also plays with an edge and desire to get after the Quarterback. The Buccaneers and even I did not expect Bain to be available at that spot as it was predicted by many that heโd be a top ten pick. Instead, he falls right into Tampa Bayโs laps and Jason Licht and company were very happy that he did.
