Game of the Day With the wind blowing in as a pitchers’ duel going on, the Juanita Sanchez baseball team knew it had to be ready to any opportunity to score. And when it happened, the Cavaliers made the most of it. With Juanita Sanchez’s Henry Trinidad trading zeroes with BVPCF’s Noah Ferreira , it became apparent one run would be enough to win.
A misplayed ball gave the Cavaliers the moment they were waiting for, as they turned the error into the only runs needed in the 2-0 victory over the Warrior Pride. Offense was going to be tough to come by with the weather – with a strong wind blowing in and turning every fly ball into a guaranteed out - and Trinidad and Ferreira’s efforts on the mound made it seem like no one would ever score. In the bottom of the sixth – Juanita Sanchez was the home team, but the game took place at Central Falls’ Macomber Stadium – Matthew Santos gave the Cavaliers some life with a one-out single and after a botched pickoff, he found himself on third.
BVPCF chose to intentionally walk Isaiah Bento , who promptly stole second base. Angel Polanco found himself in a hitters count and hit a ground ball that was misplayed and thrown away trying to get Santos at the plate. Santos slid in safely, with Bento – the Cavaliers’ catcher – hustling the entire time to come across with the second run.
