Alabama baseball defeats Tennessee in SEC series opener.

Alabama (29-14, 10-9 SEC) defeated Tennessee (27-14, 8-11 SEC), 12-8, Thursday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Crimson Tide led, 1-0, in the first inning after Bryce Fowler hit a RBI double. Tennessee led in the first inning after Garrett Wright hit a solo home run and Blake Grimmer hit a RBI single, making the score, 2-1.

The Crimson Tide tied the game, 2-2, after a balk by Landon Mack allowed a run in the second inning. The Vols regained the lead when Wright hit his second home run of the contest in the second inning. Alabama scored three runs in the third inning and added another in the fourth inning, making the score, 6-3.

Wright pulled the Vols to within 6-4 when he recorded a RBI on an error. Alabama extended its advantage ton 9-4 when Eric Hines hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning before Tennessee trimmed the Crimson Tide's advantage on a two-run home run by Henry Ford , making it, 9-6. The Crimson Tide scored three runs in the seventh inning without recording a hit as Vols' pitchers allowed to walks and hit four batters.

The Vols scored two runs with two outs in the seventh inning when Manny Marin hit a two-run single, making it, 12-8. Wright went 2-for-5. He hit two home runs and recorded three RBIs and scored two runs, while Ford went 2-for-5.
