Chiefs trade up for top CB in draft after sending Trent McDuffie to Rams

•Sky F1

A month after trading Trent McDuffie to the Rams, the Chiefs moved up for the top CB in the draft, Mansoor Delane.

The Kansas City Chiefs wasted no time finding a replacement for Trent McDuffie at cornerback after trading him to the Los Angeles Rams in March. And rather than waiting for a top cornerback to fall to them at No. 9, they were aggressive in pursuing the top cornerback in the draft.

On Thursday night, the Chiefs traded up from No. 9 to No. 6, giving the Cleveland Browns an extra third- and fifth-round pick.

With that selection, they took Mansoor Delane, who was one of the most popular picks for the Rams in early mock drafts before they acquired McDuffie. It was a full-circle moment, really. Delane was the unanimous top cornerback in the class and the Chiefs made sure he would play for them at Arrowhead by moving up three spots.
