This time, it was running backs coach Damiere Shaw’s turn to hop on the podium and answer questions about his position group.
Much like in wide receiver coach Dave Brock’s press conference, the first question had to do with a major offensive piece returning and how important it was to get Antwan Raymond back for another year. He talked about how Raymond wasn’t just one of the best backs in the country from a statistical standpoint, but also from a work ethic standpoint, and how this reflects on not just the culture of the program but the bond in the running back room as well. Shaw also sang the praises of Ja’Shon Benjamin and his current trajectory.
Shaw also got the opportunity to speak on his new role as associate offensive coordinator. “Yeah, so first and foremost, I still have to make sure the running backs are ready to go every Saturday. And then whatever Coach Ciarrocca needs me to do to help the offense produce and be productive on Saturday.
So whatever task is thrown my way, I’m ready to take it in full stride. But it was cool. I was honored.
