Wisconsin interim AD Marcus Sedberry answers key questions about transition
Wisconsin interim athletic director Marcus Sedberry answered questions about how long he will be in the interim role, among other key topics.
MADISON – Marcus Sedberry has been getting questions from seemingly everyone as the Wisconsin Badgers ’ interim AD. “My son was asking a whole bunch of questions this week, like, ‘What does this mean, Dad, and how does this work? ’” Sedberry said.
Sedberry has been in charge of the UW athletic department since April 13, when his predecessor, Chris McIntosh, officially announced his resignation to become the Big Ten’s deputy commissioner for strategy – a newly created role. Sedberry met with reporters – first in a smaller group before a larger availability at the club level of Camp Randall Stadium – for the first time April 23 as interim athletic director aside from his public comments in a UW athletic board meeting. “That was a big week, big change,” Sedberry said.
“A lot of people with different emotions and all that and just thought it was really important to take care of home base first. ” Here were his answers to four of the many pressing questions facing the Badgers amid the abrupt leadership transition: How long will Marcus Sedberry be Wisconsin Badgers ’ interim AD? The duration of Sedberry’s tenure as interim AD – and the timeline for hiring a permanent replacement – remains one of the biggest question for the Badgers.
“I don’t have a clear picture there,” Sedberry said. “And if I’m honest with you, it is better for me to focus on the here and the now. … Whether that’s going to be three months, a year, whatever that’s going to be, it would be challenging trying to live in the what-ifs and uncertainty of what that is.
