It's with the Toronto Maple Leafs. And no, none of that is a typo. Puig has signed with the baseball-playing Maple Leafs, which are a part of the Canadian Baseball League.
Baseball insider Francys Romero reported the news on Thursday. MORE: This might be the weirdest way to get an inside-the-park HR Puig is 35 years old now, and he's also facing a court hearing on May 26 for obstruction of justice and making false statements to federal agents in regards to an illegal sports gambling organization. The CBL season starts May 10, so it's not totally clear whether Puig will be able to play, but he's been signed.
The former Los Angeles Dodgers star spent the last few seasons playing in Mexico and in Korea. His last MLB action was in 2019 for Cincinnati and Cleveland. MORE: Even the New York Times is mocking the New York Mets Puig made one All Star team with the Dodgers.
