Patriots' real reason for not re-signing playoff sack leader revealed

A new video vlog captures the moment that edge rusher K'Lavon Chaisson learned he wasn't being re-signed by the Patriots.

K'Lavon Chaisson's tenure with the New England Patriots was unexpectedly great and short at the same time. In his recent vlog, the veteran edge defender posted a video of himself receiving the news from his agent, David Mulugheta, that the Patriots were passing on signing him to an extension and going with Dre'Mont Jones instead. It had to be a tough decision for New England considering how well Chaisson performed on defense.

In one season, Chaisson went from being a perceived first-round draft bust to a viable defender opponents had to account for on the football field. He led the Patriots, along with defensive tackle Milton Williams, with three postseason sacks. He ended up signing a one-year, $11 million deal with the Washington Commanders in free agency.

"I talked to the Patriots. I've been trying to get them to make an offer on you. They ended up going Dre'Mont Jones," Mlugheta said in the vlog .

"... The Patriots, their thing was, 'We love K'Lavon. We need somebody that plays the run a little bit better.
