Cross and Hamon to lead Jersey at Glasgow 2026

Jean Cross and Andy Hamon will take charge of the Jersey team at this summer's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Cross will be Chef de Mission for the third time, having also led Jersey's delegation at the 2018 Games on the Gold Coast in Australia and in Birmingham four years ago. Hamon will be general team manager and has led Jersey's cycling team at each Commonwealth Games since 2014.

He was team manager for Jersey at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games and will take on the role at the senior event for the first time. Jersey will announce its squad for the Games next month, with the island being allocated 21 places. "The Commonwealth Games are such an exciting event for people from all around the world and I'm really happy to be able to play a part for Jersey," said Hamon.

"Glasgow will be a new experience for us all, and we've been working hard over the last few months to give our athletes the best platform possible as they get ready to compete against the best in the Commonwealth. " Cross added: "I am very proud to be Chef de Mission for the third time and leading the team for Glasgow. "It has been an unsettling time for all athletes following the withdrawal of Victoria as hosts, and we are very grateful to Glasgow for stepping in to host the Games this summer.

"It will be a different Games across four great venues, but our planning is well advanced and we're confident that it will be an amazing event for all involved. "
