Mike McCarthy Reveals Steelers Plan for Will Howard and Mason Rudolph
The Pittsburgh Steelers and other teams around the NFL have guys in the building now, a very exciting time for a team like the Steelers with a new head coach in Mike McCarthy. After Mike Tomlin decided to hang them up for the time being, there are some questions about what Pittsburgh will look like, and ultimately, it will have to answer that under McCarthy. Doing so from the beginning will be very important, as the Steelers need to form that same type of identity they once had under Tomlin.
From what everything sounds like, McCarthy is very pleased with the early results. He stated that this is a good time for the players to get to know each other, and also just be back out on the field. "It's a great exercise for our players, to learn from the core, from the foundation, of what that particular concept is.
When you do it this way, it'll take a good six weeks. And then when we get to the OTAs (beginning May 18), now we'll go play, but we're still in helmets and shorts. So, you do what you can there, and you lean on the things that you're able to practice.
"So that's the process. Done it a long time. That way, it works.
But we're really just making sure everybody is truly ready for when we get off that bus, when we arrive in Latrobe, that it's all ball,” McCarthy said , per the team. More importantly, this is also a time when guys can start to win jobs. Everybody knows that, as of now, the Steelers have some questions at the quarterback position.
