On the greens, Seaside boys golf continued their Cowapa league success and a Seaside girl golfer blazed the course with a personal best score. Seaside girls golf team is standout at home invitational The Seaside girls golf team couldn’t have asked for a better performance during their home invitational on Monday afternoon. Though the match was played at Astoria Golf and Country Club instead of Gearhart Golf Links, the Seagulls were still classified as the host team.

Taking on larger schools like 6A Central Catholic and 5A Hood River Valley, the Seagulls held their own with a second place finish. The Seagulls shot a total team score of 389 to finish just 11 strokes behind Central Catholic. Of the 13 total teams in attendance only seven were able to score.

Their 4A rivals, Scappoose, only fielded three players, while Molalla, Madras and Astoria finished well behind the Seagulls. The Seaside girls entered the day ranked fourth overall in the 4A/3A/2A/1A Oregon School Activities state rankings and did nothing to hurt themselves. The Lady ‘Gulls were led by a career best performance from junior Reagan Hartnett.

Hartnett tore up the course en route to a rousing score of 84. This was good enough to finish second place overall behind Dufur golfer Tygh Timinsky, who shot a 78. The low score by Hartnett blazed the trail for Seaside as she was followed by fellow junior Lolly Rahl, senior Makenna White and junior Hayley Archibald.

Rahl carded a 95 to finish eighth, White shot a 102 and Archibald had a 108. Kylie Keranen was the fifth player with a 110. Hadley Painter led the way for Astoria with a 109.
