Mets suddenly lose another star player to calf injury

The New York Mets were dealt another injury blow April 22 as they looked to end their 12-game losing streak. Shortstop Francisco Lindor exited the Mets’ game against the Minnesota Twins at Citi Field after four innings with an injury to his left calf. Lindor appeared to be in some discomfort after scoring from first base on a double by Francisco Alvarez in the fourth inning.

He slowed down between second and third base, then grimaced rounding third, before giving the Mets a 2-1 lead. It’s a potentially serious setback for a team that’s already had more than most teams in MLB through the first month of the 2026 season.

Earlier in the day, the Mets welcomed Juan Soto back into their lineup after he was cleared to play following a strained calf muscle he suffered earlier this month. Ironically, Lindor’s injury struck the same part of his body as Soto’s.
