No. 4 Webb City tops Republic

Yahoo Sports

WEBB CITY, Mo. — Webb City High School, the No. 4 team in Class 5, notched six runs in the bottom of the third Tuesday when it played host to Republic High School for a Central Ozark Conference baseball contest.

The Cardinals were able to ride that offensive spark to a 6-2 victory as Mason Young held it down on the mound until the sixth inning, when Bryson Bard took over to close it out. Young pitched five innings allowing two hits, two unearned runs and walked four batters while striking out seven. Five errors ailed Webb City in the field as it allowed those two unearned runs to score for the Tigers.

Bard limited the opposition to just one hit, no runs and no walks while striking out three hitters in two innings of work. The Cardinals (14-4) got two hits from Lake Johnson, Braden Strickland and Barret Weller. Those are the fifth, sixth and eighth hitters in the lineup.

Mason Williams and Barek Hoffman added one hit each. Williams is the Cardinals' second hitter and his double drove in two runs, and he scored once as well. Webb City returns to the diamond Thursday at Carthage (9-10) for a 4:30 p.

m. start. The Tigers have won three of their last four, dating back to last Thursday.
