LEVERKUSEN, GERMANY - APRIL 22: Vincent Kompany, Head Coach of FC Bayern Munich, speaks to the media prior to the DFB Cup semifinal match between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Bayern München at BayArena on April 22, 2026 in Leverkusen, Germany. (Photo by Pau Barrena/Getty Images) | Getty Images Sure, Bayern Munich sealed the Bundesliga title with a 4-2 victory over VfB Stuttgart on the previous weekend. Sure, Bayern have had an extremely difficult run of games of late and a Champions League semifinal clash against Paris Saint-Germain that would see the team benefit from something of a break.

Certainly, the final minutes of Bayern’s 2-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB-Pokal semifinal suggest that the team was tired and could only benefit from some freshness. But that is no reason to write off the remaining Bundesliga games, starting with an away trip to in form Mainz 05. Asked straight up after the win over Leverkusen if Bayern were to focus on Mainz or PSG after the match, head coach Vincent Kompany would not lose his focus on the nearest current goal.

“Theoretically, we’ll switch to Mainz, even though we’ve already secured the title,” Kompany stated, as captured by @iMiaSanMia . “We have a clear routine for how we prepare for matches. I don’t want to change the process because all games are important.

” That does not mean the Belgian coach will not take measures to prevent fatigue and prepare for the trip to the Parc de Princes, but it does mean that he will not treat the trip to the Conference League quarterfinalists lightly. What shape this focus will take will be readily clear on Saturday.
