49ers DL coach has eyes on under-the-radar DT prospect
The 49ers could find some DL depth on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL draft.
San Francisco 49ers defensive line coach Kris Kocurek met with Louisville defensive lineman Rene Konga this week, according to KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson . Konga, 23, is originally from Cameroon before his family relocated to Ottawa, Canada when he was a kid. Konga has been in college since 2020, first at Rutgers before he transferred to Louisville in 2024.
He had four sacks, eight tackles for a loss and 49 combined tackles over the past two seasons. Konga is slightly undersized as a B-gap defensive lineman (between the offensive guard and the tackle) at almost 6-foot-4 and nearly 300 pounds, but he has short-area quickness with a 4. 79 40-yard dash time, a 1.
6 10-second split and 4. 59-second short shuffle. NFL.
com's Lance Zierlein projects Konga to go in the sixth round, meaning he is almost assuredly a Day 3 pick if the 49ers are interested in drafting him. This article originally appeared on Niners Wire: 49ers DL coach has eyes on under-the-radar DT prospect
