FC Bayern overcame a feisty Leverkusen side to advance to the DFB-Pokal Cup final next month.

Bayern dominated possession but could not finish. Leverkusen’s attack lacked any sort of real threat. Hats off to Mark Flekken.

The Leverkusen goalkeeper had a number of big saves that usually find the back of the net for Bayern. Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah, and Alphonso Davies were exceptional tonight, immediately shutting down every Leverkusen attack. Manuel Neuer only had to make one actual save.

That was a brutally physical match. Bayern persevered but will need a hard reset before taking on a more tactically challenging PSG side. Bayern’s three-game road tour continues with a Bundesliga match at Mainz on Saturday.
