Will the Cleveland Browns draft a QB to replace Shedeur Sanders?
Will Shedeur Sander still be the heir apparent at quarterback in Cleveland after the 2026 NFL Draft?
It took a while for Shedeur Sanders to get his NFL opportunity as a starter, but before his rookie season came to an end, he found himself at the helm of the Cleveland Browns ' offense. But will he still be in the same position after the Browns get through the NFL Draft? While the prospect of Deshaun Watson's return from injury looms large, the two quarterbacks are currently sharing reps in minicamp.
But if the Browns decide to add another wild card in the mix, it could easily derail Sanders' attempts at holding onto the starting role next season. Browns GM Andrew Berry has acknowledged that the franchise has some interest in Ty Simpson, and there will also be a plethora of quarterbacks available at a better bargain in later rounds. With a new head coach in Cleveland in Todd Monken and Dillon Gabriel's potential a question mark, it would make sense for the Browns to take the risk.
If the Browns want to land Simpson, they'll likely have to grab him in the first or second round. But as the draft goes on, other options will likely still be available on Day 2 and Day 3, with Garrett Nussmeier of LSU, Taylen Green of Arkansas, and Drew Allar of Penn State being floated as potential draft targets at the quarterback position for the franchise.
