It's over now, as the long-time Los Angeles Kings center has officially retired from his playing career. Lewis released a statement sharing his thoughts upon retirement on Wednesday: โ€œAs a kid growing up in Utah, I could have never imagined this journey. Playing over 1,000 games and winning two Stanley Cups.

Those milestones arenโ€™t just numbers to me, they represent years of sacrifice, perseverance, and a deep love for the game. I want to especially thank the Los Angeles Kings organization for believing in me from day one. You gave me an opportunity to chase this dream, and together we built something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

โ€ Lewis was a first-round pick of the Kings in the 2006 NHL Draft, going 17th overall. Of his 17 NHL seasons, 14 of them were played with the Kings -- the first 12 and the final two. He also played a year for the Winnipeg Jets and two for the Calgary Flames .
