Lucas Giolito’s long free agency is over. The San Diego Padres announced April 22 that they have signed the former Boston Red Sox pitcher to a one-year, contract. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Giolito will receive a pro-rated portion of $3 million.

He’s 71-66 with a 4. 30 ERA in 206 games (204 starts) in nine MLB seasons. The Padres are 16-7, and looking to make it back to the National League playoff field for the fifth time in the last seven seasons.
