Oxford United boss Matt Bloomfield says his side will keep fighting to stay in the Championship with two games remaining.

Oxford United boss Matt Bloomfield says his side will keep fighting after a 1-0 defeat by Wrexham on Tuesday. That loss leaves the U's five points from safety in 22nd with two games to go. They play Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday followed by second-placed Millwall on the final day of the 2025-26 campaign.

But the U's fate could be confirmed on Wednesday night if Blackburn win at Sheffield United and Charlton Athletic avoid defeat to Ipswich Town. "We'll keep fighting, there's no doubt about that," Bloomfield told BBC Radio Oxford. "We'll come out on Saturday and we'll keep fighting The boys showed fantastic heart in the second half and we have to show that again on Saturday.

"We're obviously terribly disappointed with the result. We looked a bit tentative in the first half and maybe it was the magnitude of the evening, but the shackles were off in the second half. We really attacked and created loads of opportunities to get the ball into the box.

"It's hard when you're leader of the group. It's really tough when you don't get the result that you want. "I was desperate to get a result and give our supporters something to go into the weekend but we haven't been able to do that and I feel a sense of responsibility really strongly.
