Burgess said in his post-match media commitments the result in France provided a chance for his side to "reset". In the aftermath of that loss, however, Burgess was relaxed about his side's prospects in a competitive season, where just two points separate the top six.

"You don't have to drop too much to lose a game. There's just small areas of our game we can tighten up," he told BBC Radio Merseyside. "It [a reset] sounds like a drastic word now in that context, but in reality we've had four or five days at home because of the travel back, so there's not been a great deal of work we can do.

"In terms of being off, it's marginal and being off in moments can cost you the result. And we found that out the hard way on Saturday in France. " Warrington face Wigan on Saturday with the chance to claw back some ground on their rivals around the top of Super League.

Wigan, who are also level on 10 points with the Wire, were defeated by bottom side Castleford on Sunday and Burgess said that surprise results springing up this season were making the league more entertaining. Out-of-form Huddersfield previously beat Wigan, while newcomers York Knights defeated champions Hull KR in the opening game of the campaign. "I think it's interesting because a lot of teams are beating each other from the bottom to the top," he added.
