New York Times issues the most savage Mets correction amid nightmare losing streak originally appeared on The Sporting News . Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here . There are a lot of ways to sum up how things are going for the New York Mets right now.

One of them? That photo of a fan in a paper bag at the top of the article was not the only one to choose from taken by Imagn Images photographer Wendell Cruz on Tuesday night. For those not keeping score at home, the Mets have now lost 12 games in a row.

They took a 3-0 lead over the Minnesota Twins before allowing five unanswered runs. Most teams don't have a 12-game losing streak at any point in the season. The Mets have found there way to one in April.

Those paper bag photos aren't the only way to sum up how rough it's getting, either. The New York Times took their own little shot at the Mets' ability in a recent correction. They had an article mis-reference when the Mets' 11th consecutive loss had occurred.
