Iowa football center Logan Jones carries storied career to NFL draft

Yahoo Sports

Few players saw a more productive career than Logan Jones did at Iowa. He is among the draft's most proven collegiate players.

The Iowa Hawkeyes are just a few days away from sending their next batch of talent to the NFL, with the 2026 NFL Draft rapidly approaching. Iowa , like many previous years, is going to see a group of monsters from the trenches, and defensive players hear their names called. One of those players, Logan Jones, Iowa's star center, is certain to be playing on Sundays.

He brings not just talent and an Iowa offensive lineman lineage, but he carries one of the most storied collegiate careers of any player in this draft class. CBS Sports looked at this class of draft prospects and has Logan Jones among the top 10 with the most productive college careers. The ultimate Iowa offensive lineman, Jones arrived at Iowa as a defensive tackle before a knee injury led to a position change.

The rest is history. He stepped in for other injured starters at center in 2022 and never gave up the job. He started 50 games across four seasons at center and won the Rimington Trophy while picking up unanimous All-American honors for the Hawkeyes last season.

- Brandon Marcello, CBS Sports What makes Logan Jones' journey to stardom even more impressive is that the Council Bluffs native began his career at Iowa on the other side of the ball as a defensive tackle. He was converted to center following Tyler Linderbaum's move to the NFL. The move proved to be fruitful, as Jones joined Iowa's historic group of Unanimous All-Americans in 2025.
