Notre Dame most recent decommit, Khalil Terry makes quick verbal
Khalil Terry decommitted to Notre Dame on Monday, then on Tuesday made a commitment to an in-state Big Ten team.
It didn’t take long for now former Notre Dame football 2027 commit Khalil Terry to make up his mind where he wants to play college football. The California safety decided on Tuesday that he was committing to UCLA , much closer to his Tustin home. It’s a very interesting move, when comparing both teams.
The Irish are coming off a season where they just missed the College Football Playoff, and many expect them to make a return to the field this fall. The Bruins on the other hand are coming off a horrendous season, going 3-9, 3-6 in the Big Ten. Not only was UCLA bad on the field, they went through a coaching change this offseason, as Bob Chesney replaced DeShaun Foster.
While the Bruins new coach comes over with an impressive overall record of 132-52, he did lead his former team, James Madison, to a berth in this past seasons CFP. They were one of the teams that the committee picked over Notre Dame, so there is a bit of bad blood there. Terry clearly wanted a much better chance at playing early, which most likely would not have happened in South Bend considering the elite depth that the Irish have at safety.
Hopefully this move turns out well for him, as he’ll be able to play closer to his family. BREAKING: Four-Star Safety Khalil Terry has Committed to UCLA, he tells me for @Rivals ⁰⁰The 5’11 185 S from Tustin, CA decommitted from Notre Dame yesterday “Staying home 4’s up!!! ”⁰⁰ https://t.
