Just in time, sophomore Jaiden Ilginis ignites Tinley Park with back-to-back hat tricks. ‘Push myself more.’
Jaiden Ilginis made quite an entrance last spring for Tinley Park, recording a hat trick in her first game as a freshman. That’s a feat Ilginis hadn’t duplicated until Thursday when the sophomore midfielder scored four goals in an 8-1 win over Richards. This time, there wasn’t nearly as long of a gap between scoring outbursts.
No gap, actually. Ilginis made it back-to-back hat tricks Tuesday. Talk about a hot streak.
“I’ve never had a week of soccer like this,” Ilginis said. “This is the first time it feels like my hard work in practice has come to use. It’s really just wanting it and knowing that I’m able to do it.
“Now, I just have to push myself more. ” Ilginis’ three goals Tuesday allowed host Tinley Park to pull away in the second half for a 5-0 win over Oak Lawn in a South Suburban Conference crossover game. Maryam Natour and Arianna Benitez also scored for the Titans (6-1-1, 4-0 SSC Blue).
Madilynn Kosmos , Zoey Hill , Gracie Kowalski and Abigail Loulousis each added an assist. Theresa Ochoa needed just one save to record the shutout, getting plenty of help from a defense led by Maya Pantoja , Salma Habaibeh and Grace Stachowicz . All of Tinley Park’s goals were scored by sophomores.
