Logan Johnstone, Connor Hamilton injury updates for Vanderbilt baseball
Here are injury updates for Logan Johnstone and Connor Hamilton for Vanderbilt baseball after a win over Xavier.
In an injury-plagued season, Vanderbilt baseball added two more names to its list of those unavailable. Outfielder Logan Johnstone missed an 11-1 win over Xavier on April 21 in concussion protocol and pitcher Connor Hamilton had a "lat issue," according to coach Tim Corbin. Johnstone originally suffered the injury in a collision with Mike Mancini during an April 18 game against Kentucky.
He remained in the game at the time but missed the series finale. Hamilton also suffered his injury during the series against the Wildcats. Vanderbilt (25-17) also saw Rustan Rigdon dealing with a wrist injury.
Normally a switch-hitter, Rigdon can only hit from the left side due to the injury. "He wasn't healthy," Corbin said. "Had a little bit of a lat issue.
He'd be pitching tonight, if he, so I think he's going to be OK, but we had to just give him a couple days. " Hamilton is the seventh different Commodores pitcher to miss time with injury this season. Miller Green and Aiden Stillman recently returned from preseason ailments, while Austin Nye underwent internal brace surgery and England Bryan, Adria Casoliba and Matthew Shorey also remain out.
