Michael Sharman earns second ACC Pitcher of the Week award
Despite a tough road series against No. 9 Virginia, Clemson right-hander Michael Sharman delivered a standout performance that earned him Pitcher of the Week honors and secured the Tigers’ lone win of the weekend. Sharman was electric on Friday night in Charlottesville, leading Clemson to a 5–1 victory — the team’s only win in the three-game series.
The Tigers dropped the other two contests (4–6, 4–5), but the dominance by Sharman on the mound prevented a sweep and highlighted how important he is to have on the rubber. The righty turned in 8. 0 innings of work, allowing just 1 run on 6 hits, while striking out 7 and issuing only 1 walk.
He controlled the game from the start, keeping Virginia’s lineup off balance and limiting scoring opportunities throughout the night. The performance marked one of the strongest outings of the season for Clemson and improved Sharman’s record to 5–1 on the year. Even with the series loss, Clemson now sits at 25–16 overall (6–12 ACC), and Sharman’s outing provides momentum as the Tigers look to climb back in conference play.
