Hornet baseball honors Sheppard before final home game
Before first pitch of the final home baseball game, Huntsville honored HISD Superintendent Scott Sheppard as he is set to retire at the end of the school year. Sheppard has been the head of HISD for eight years and played a pivotal role in securing a bond to build the new baseball and softball complexes, allowing diamond sports to be played on campus for the first time in school history. “It’s a special place.
The people make it great, and we’ve enjoyed our time here,” Sheppard said on the KSAM 101. 7 broadcast. “A lot has changed for the district in that time.
A lot of improvements have been made. The community got behind the bond, and we are sitting in the results tonight. We can’t thank the community enough.
” The Hornets honored Sheppard and his wife, Donna, before the game with a signed ball from the team. In the final home game of the season, the Hornets were unable to come back after Montgomery plated five in the top half of the fourth inning. Huntsville dropped the game 6-1 and will now have one game remaining before the end of the season on Friday.
