Notes: Lions drop first ‘Inside the Den’ episode

Mandatory Credit: Eric Hartline-Imagn Images | Eric Hartline-Imagn Images The Detroit Lions have released the first episode of this season’s highly watched series “Inside the Den. ” This episode of the Emmy-award winning documentary series goes behind-the-scenes to touch on some key offseason movements within the franchise.
It starts with a look at new offensive coordinator Drew Petzing, as he sits down with a few coaches to watch film. This gives viewers a chance to learn what he sees when he watches a certain play, as well as what he may be expecting from his players this season. The episode follows the same with defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard, until going into the process signing free agents in the offseason.
General manager Brad Holmes also offers a little insight into how he identifies the types of players he believes the Lions need, and the process of going after them ( you can read some of Holmes’ direct quotes on the free agency class here ). Joining the “Up & Adams Show,” draft prospect Monroe Freeling tells host Kay Adams that he’s spoken with his former George teammate and current Lions lineman Tate Ratledge about playing for Detroit.
