Colts announce jersey numbers for 11 offseason additions
The Indianapolis Colts announced the jersey numbers of the 11 new players added to the roster this offseason.
The Indianapolis Colts have announced the jersey numbers for their latest roster additions made in free agency. It was an active free agency period for GM Chris Ballard. It began, prior to the NFL's negotiating window opening, with the Colts trading Zaire Franklin to Green Bay in exchange for defensive tackle Colby Wooden.
Ballard mentioned on Monday that the Colts like the versatility that Wooden adds to the defensive front. Early in free agency, Ballard would prioritize the defensive end unit, signing Michael Clemons and Arden Key. Clemons can fill a role similar to that of Tyquan Lewis, with his ability to line up inside, while Key brings some added juice to this position with his ability to get off the ball quickly.
The safety position was revamped as well, with Nick Cross signing in Washington. The Colts signed Jonathan Owens and Juanyeh Thomas. The two, along with Hunter Wohler, will presumably compete for the starting safety spot next to Cam Bynum.
Then, in need of experience and help at the linebacker position, Ballard signed Akeem Davis-Gaither, who spent last season in Arizona, and previously played under Lou Anarumo in Cincinnati. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine will likely compete with Ashton Dulin for the WR3 role. Safety Nasir Adderly, cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, and defensive tackles Derrick Nnadi and Jerry Tillery were other additions made.
