They were (along with Jake Davis and Jason Jakstys) the last holdovers of the Chester Frazier/Tim Anderson time at Brad Underwood’s side. That was the rugged era. That was a “will over skill” era.
That was more ground and pound rim bullying than the Sonata Orlando Antigua brought back from Lexington. Without inside knowledge, it’s easy to imagine that perhaps the new staff’s different direction wasn’t the best case scenario for Morez Johnson. Morez excelled in Illinois’ “dunker” spot as a true freshman.
