Today in Boston Celtics history, Hall of Fame Celtics point guard Bob Cousy was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1971, alongside his longtime rival Bob Pettit of the then-St. Louis Hawks. Initially drafted out of Holy Cross by the Tri-City Blackhawks in 1950, Cousy declined to play for the team and was subsequently picked up by the Boston Celtics.
